Breaking bread is much, much more than friends and family enjoying a meal together. It is true that the dinner table is a place where the participants spend time in conversation, enjoying one another’s company. However, in the church kingdom, breaking of bread has reference to a special meal at a particular table. The Lord’s supper served at the communion table is a distinct time of reflection for those that have dedicated their lives to Jesus Christ. Each part of the meal has deep symbolism that draws us individually to Him. As church members partake of the unlevened bread and wine, a reverent silence fills the room. It is during this meal we experience a very profound truth that asks, “Why did He suffer like that for me?”
John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
